This standard is tailored specifically for retail leaders to equip individuals with practical skills such as setting goals, building trust, and providing effective feedback in retail teams. Learners will develop skills in emotional and social intelligence, listening and questioning skills and understand how their coaching impacts both the individual and the business.

The Coaching Professional for Retail apprenticeship grows skills to improve productivity and retention for individuals and teams through advanced change and performance management methods. Develop coaches who lead by example for motivated, high-performing teams in retail contexts including shop floor, head office and supply chain.

The Level 5 Coaching Professional for Retail apprenticeship is ideal for mangers aiming to enhance their people development skills, including in-the-moment coaching for immediate impact.

Participants will gain valuable insights into emotional intelligence and learn to navigate the complexities of developing individuals and teams in fast-moving retail businesses. By integrating coaching with organisational objectives, this programme prepares leaders to create a high-performance culture through a coaching-focused approach.

Apprentices will develop core leadership skills, build trust and strengthen emotional intelligence to create high-performing teams. With modules on leadership, performance management and business change, this programme prepares retail leaders to inspire their teams and adapt to the ever-evolving demands of the industry.

The Level 5 Coaching Professional apprenticeship costs £5,000 per learner which includes End-Point Assessment.

Funding

Apprenticeships can be funded from your Apprenticeship Levy or by Government Co-Invest. If you do not pay the Levy, the Government will fund 95% of the programme, meaning you pay as little as £250 per person you enrol. We are also able to offer privately funded places for any employees not eligible for apprenticeship funding. For further information about funding options, eligibility and costs, please contact us.

Duration: 15 months

The Level 5 Coaching Professional for Retail apprenticeship typically takes 15 months to complete, followed by a period of end-point assessment of approximately 3 months.

We can begin a closed intake apprenticeship at any time that suits your brand. We require a minimum of 10 learners to offer a closed cohort for Level 5 Coaching Professional.

The course will consist of a blend of workshops, coaching and progress reviews, approximately every 3 - 4 weeks.

  • Delivering effective, non-judgmental feedback and insightful questioning.

Communication & Relationship Management

  • Verbal/non-verbal communication, rapport building, listening skills.
  • Stakeholder and relationship management, including contracting and ethics.
  • Managing boundaries, confidentiality, and professional codes of conduct.
  • Handling challenging coaching relationships with trust and respect.

Diversity, Inclusion & Organisational Culture

  • Diversity, bias, personality types, motivation theories.
  • Organisational culture and leadership impact on behaviour.
  • Managing and valuing diversity in coaching practice.
  • Aligning coaching with organisational systems, values, and objectives.

Planning, Evaluation & Professional Practice

  • Time management, scheduling, and goal tracking.
  • Evaluating coaching effectiveness and ROI.
  • Developing personalised coaching approaches using established tools.
  • Reflective practice, continuous learning, supervision, and wellbeing maintenance.

Ethics, Legal Compliance & Professionalism

  • Coaching ethics, codes of practice, and legislation.

End-point assessment

For the Level 5 Coaching Professional for Retail apprenticeship, end-point assessment is provided by EFI Awards. EPA typically takes 3 months to complete.​
